Acceptance of Resignation
US Attorney General, Pam Bondi, announced Habba's resignation on Monday. In a statement that the court's "flawed" ruling made it unworkable for Habba to perform her duties.
"But do not mistake compliance for surrender," she declared. "This battle will now stretch across the country."

Her resignation comes a week after a US appeals court determined that she had been serving in violation of the law as the federal prosecutor. This decision is could influence many prosecutions in the state.
The judicial panel ruled that a interim role that skirted confirmation by the US Senate ran afoul of the statute on vacant positions.

Habba, first joined Donald Trump's lawyers in 2021. Subsequently, she defended her client in his hush-money trial in New York last year, when he was conviction on 34 counts of falsifying business records.
Before Habba took on the role of US Attorney, the former president had announced he was selecting her as his White House advisor in a potential future term, describing the lawyer as a steadfast ally and a dedicated fighter for justice.
